The reentry of the noun ‘Agagu’ into Ondo State’s political circle expectedly sprouts shades of thoughts and readily provides grist for commentaries of diverse shapes. Meanwhile, the hub, this time, is not about Segun Agagu, the former governor, it’s about Femi, the younger brother and former Chief of Staff, who is familiar for fine feats. What is more gratifying, however, is knowing that the persona, Olufemi Agagu, who has been named to serve in the cabinet of governor Akeredolu is an amazing asset to the state and a good, huge plus. His nomination as a Commissioner, when gauged in terms of experience, leadership worth and professional credentials, portends huge advantage for the new government and his southern constituents.
Whenever it’s right to discuss this blood relation, one fact rarely checked is that before the late Segun Agagu delved into partisan politics, emerged a Minister, governor and intellectual difference on Nigeria’s political space, the Agagu’s lineage lined up illustrious offspring who markedly affected the state and the country in their different spheres, yet, the ascendance of Olusegun Agagu as a consequential public servant lent father credence to the intellectual finesse which runs as a common thread in the family’s genealogy.
It’s this noble tree of sterling ancestry that Olufemi Sunday Agagu, Nigeria’s foremost Estate Management practitioner, belongs. He is one distinct personality who wears the sheen of brilliance that marks his kind as palpable insignia. Though he has been around with profound distinctions, yet, at first contact, his warmth and sense of purpose readily mark him out as a figure with fine mien who carries with him the profound contents that set a genius far apart from demagogues.
Like the senior Agagu, Femi is a rare breed academic who had a stint of pedagogy in the department of Estate Management, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile -Ife, between 1985 and 1989 before leaving for private practice as an Estate Management guru, a venture which proved quite effectual and yielded outstanding successes for him.
A distinguished Nigerian by any dipstick, Femi Agagu was born in Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State on April 4th, 1957, trained at the prestigious University of Ife (Now Obafemi Awolowo University) where he earned MSc. Estate Management, and BSc. Estate Management (Second Class Upper Division).
An astute and thorough professional, Mr. Agagu typified a sturdy prop to the government of his late brother wherein he made brilliant impacts in his capacities as the Chief of Staff, Chair, Ondo State Football Dev. Committee, Member, of State Executive Council, Member of State Security Council; Member of Fund Allocation Committee, Member of the state Poverty Alleviation Committee.
A corporate member of the Nigerian Institute of Estate Surveyors & Values, and Principal Partner at Femi Agagu & Co., Femi is a member of the Stallion Home-Union Bank Building Committee who has handled many industrial, residential and commercial properties in the various parts of the country, management of LSDP Properties at Eko Court, Adekola Odeku Towers Valuation, building of Area Office Building at Alausa, Lagos, provision of Premises for new Union Bank branches, management of leases of Bank properties, valuation of Physical Assets of OAU, Ife, Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo, Federal School of Agriculture, Akure, Institute of ART, Apata, Ibadan; valuation of AG Leventis Properties, Lagos, among others.
Mr. Agagu, scholar and co-author of ‘Industrial Estate and Regional Development of Lagos State, has attended many local and international conferences. He also has made useful and prolific contributions to learned Journals. Some of his works include: Impact of industrial estate on the regional development of Lagos State; Industrializing Ondo State using Industrial Estates, Rental Trends in Ibadan, and a good list of others.
Mr. Femi Agagu, pastor of the Redeemed Church of God, husband and father of wonderful children, has a fine pedigree and professional luster that should make constituents expect of him more successes in his new preferment. We congratulate this illustrious son of Ondo state and his colleagues and wish them the best as they make farther contributions to the growth of the state.
